Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins, an American-Mexican sportscaster. She is currently a sportscaster for ESPN, working as anchor for SportsCenter reports and hosts SportsNation. She joined ESPN as a news anchor in 2016. She is the daughter of television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bilingual and has been since when she was nine years old. Her ability in this area allowed her to land her first job at Univision, Miami. She was able to work as a producer for national programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. She was hired as reporter for The CBS St. Petersburg affiliate following that. In 2009 she moved to Rio Grande Valley to work as a reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. The stories she covered were about immigration and drug trafficking in both Texas and Mexico. Also, she was often called upon to be a sports or weather anchor. Then she anchor and wrote on Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was assigned more responsibility. She also wrote articles on The NBA, Dallas Cowboys' postseason games, NBA ALDS ALCS World Series or Finals FC Dallas. Apart from that, she also hosted and produced Univision 23's Accion Deportiva Extra local sports show. She has been promoted to anchor the sports segment on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In addition, she served as a sports anchor on Primer Impacto, a magazine program on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta's parents were originally of Veracruz Mexico. They eventually settled in Mexico City and she was born there on November 22, 1985. She has an elder sister. In 1992 her family left Mexico and moved to Miami. Her parents divorced soon after and, in 1995, she married a naval designer named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died in 2006 of kidney cancer. On a family vacation in Ohio, younger Collins was able to take a job alongside her elder sister. As a senior in high school but having a clear vision of what she wanted to do with her life Antonietta went to the University of Mount Union to determine if the school was suitable for her needs. The campus was stunning as well as offered the level of education she sought. After completing the requirements for high school, she enrolled in the University to pursue media studies. Mark Bergmann - her professor and director of WRMU (91.1 FM) in which she was a part of. Mark Bergmann inspired her to have confidence and his enthusiasm for journalism deeply affected her, and she in turn, strived to fulfill the expectations of him and not failed him.
